Section & Interest Group Meetings
Numerous meetings are held over convention week for NSS sections, internal organizations, and special interest groups. Most of these are working groups with specific interests in speleology. With few exceptions, all of these meetings are open to convention registrants. Some of these are lunch meetings, but they are not catered events. Take-out lunches may be purchased at our food vendors located near the college's student center.
Exact dates and room locations of these meetings are still tentative and will be posted here as we get closer to the convention dates. Some of these dates may change as our schedule evolves.
Monday, June 28
Communications and Electronics
Lunch meeting where section business will be conducted and will be followed by a session consisting of presentations and discussions on communications and electronics equipment and techniques.
Lechuguilla Cave Cartographers
An annual meeting for cartographers for Lechuguilla Cave maps hosted by the Cave Resource office of Carlsbad Caverns National Park.
Meeting is open to anyone interested in cave videography. After a short business meeting there will be informal discussion about lighting equipment and techniques, video cameras, video editing and other subjects of interest.

American Spelean History Section
This is the annual business meeting of the American Spelean History section which is conducted following the section's session presentations.
Cave Conservation & Management
National Cave Rescue Commission
This meeting will discuss recent commission activities as well as host opportunities for upcoming cave rescue-related activities.
Wednesday, June 30
Arts and Letters Lunch
The Arts and Letters section brings together cavers who enjoy writing, drawing and reading with caves as a focal point. This is their annual luncheon business meeting.
Geology & Geography
Section meeting is a forum for the exchange of cave geoscience information and the interaction of karst geoscientists. Section business is conducted during this lunch meeting.
This section meeting focuses on the collection and study of postage and stamps. Of particular interest is speleology-related aspects of postage, envelopes and postmarks that include cave themes, fauna, geology and history.
This purpose of this annual meeting is to discuss recent reports and developments in medicine as it applies to caves and caving. The meeting is open to anyone interested in the medical sciences.

Vertical Section Meeting and Awards
During the Annual Vertical Section Business Meeting, the membership will formally conduct the official business of the Vertical Section. This meeting includes reports about the Section's finances, activities, new initiatives, and the annual election of Officers and Executive Committee Members.
Biospeleology Section Lunch
This section encourages and expedites research and communication among cavers interested in and researchers conducting the study of cave biota. Section business is conducted during the lunch break of the Biospeology Session.
National Cave and Karst Management Symposium Steering Committee
This is a planning meeting for the cave management symposium which is held in different locations throughout the US every other year (odd years).
Cave Diving Section
This section meeting consists of information discussions about cave diving and specifically sump diving. Presentations on equipment and techniques will follow the business meeting.
National Speleological Foundation
NSS Nature Preserves
The NSS owns 19 preserves that are managed by a dedicated group of volunteers who serve as the public interface between the NSS and the caving community. This annual meeting of NSS Preserve Managers includes discussions related to our NSS Preserves with topics such as outreach, capital projects, research, developing a centralized permit system, and overall management. All NSS members are welcome to attend and learn about the daily operations and overall management of our NSS Preserves.

Survey and Cartography Section
This lunch meeting is the annual business gathering of the Survey and Cartography section where section business, cartography salon business and officer elections are conducted. The SACS session follows the lunch business meeting.

Cave Digging Section
This section is a venue for the sharing and discussing equipment and techniquest. During the annual is discussion of section business and the election of section officers. A Digging Session follows the annual meeting (See Digging Session description).
Hawaii Speleological Survey
This is a business meeting of the HSS Executive committee, All HSS members and guests as well as NSS members interested in working in Hawaii lava tubes are welcome to attend.
