Nestled in a pine forest in extreme northern California, the 14-thousand foot Mount Shasta Volcano stands guard over the rugged City of Weed. Named after her founder, Abner Weed, this historic lumber town rests at the intersection of California's mountainous limestone ridges and mysterious lava tubes. Hundreds of caves in the nearby hills can provide challenges for a lifetime of explorers. We hope you can join us this summer for the 2021 NSS Convention!
For most of the continental United States, the western coast offers scenes unlike anything you might experience back home! From steaming volcanic fumaroles to boiling sulphuric mud pots, the active volcanology in the area is a must-see. Located just 10 miles from our convention site, the 14,179-foot Mount Shasta is a classic example of a stratovolcano.

NOTE: Over the last few weeks, we have been exploring the option of moving the convention to July 24-31. We do not yet know if that will be possible, but a decision is expected before the end of March.
